The Discovery Shuttle Launch

Although the whole post will not be directed at the last launch of the Discovery space shuttle, I have decided to title the post for this completely awe inspiring event!

Yesterday I got up bright and early, around 6 am, and watched the sunrise. I didn't have to set an alarm I just woke up. A mixture of eating right, sleeping in a relaxing and quiet environment, and going to bed earlier all made my early wake up a success. The sunrise was beautiful and I plan to watch many more while I am here. We got ready and headed out on our journey up to Titusville, where we would watch the launch, around 8 am.

On the way we picked up some food for the day and ended up getting to Titusville around eleven. After some searching and taking a semi-hidden road we found someone renting out their front yard along the Indian River, right across from where the shuttle was launching. Along with a few other people we set up camp and waited a little more then 5 hours for the launch.

After a short 3 minute hiccup in the countdown Discovery launched at 4:53 (had they waited another 3 minutes the launch would have been scrubbed until further notice). Watching the shuttle launches was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The place in my body where I feel all my emotions just swelled up to a point that I wanted to cry from joy. Words cannot adequately describe how amazing it was to watch the launch in person, but lets just say the 3 hr drive,5 hours before waiting and the additional 5 hour drive home (3 hours in bumper to bumper traffic) was well worth the 2 minutes spent watching the launch.

Since this moment of complete awe I have let myself try to continue to be as open to my emotions as possible. I have been working on letting them flow through my body as easily as they did during those two minutes. Walking with my mom down the beach this morning we hardly talked, we just walked and listened to the waves.

Being here on this vacation is allowing me to really figure things out, how I will succeed and how I will find my happiness. The ocean always does that to me, it opens me up. The sun shine is also amazing. The amount of wonderful energy that flows over me is indescribable, but draining. When you go from being closed off and locked inside for the majority of your day then you begin to feel the need to rest a bit more. I may be on a vacation from work, but my emotions and body are working to figuring things out.

I am happy and in love with my life. I love the opportunities that have been given to me and the friends and family who have supported me.
