Vero Beach Vacation Day 1

After being sick the last two days with stomach allergy unfunness I finally got to Vero Beach Florida today with my mom. We met at the airport and drove to the Disney Resort which is right on the beach overlooking the ocean. We got our room number and can I just say that the one bedroom we are staying in is larger then the apartment in NY. It also includes a kitchen, bathtub, separate shower room, living room, balcony, and bedroom... oh yeah and a washer and dryer.

The weather today was cloudy, but still warm which is amazing. I felt so at ease just walking along the path from the main lobby to our building listening to the waves of the ocean. There is something truly wonderful about the ocean. Every time I am near it I feel this sense of connection with the world that I have not been able to replicate anywhere else.

After going food shopping my mom and I sat down for a quiet dinner which we had initially talked about watching TV through, but ended up talking the entire time instead. It's been really nice having that time with my mom. I have a feeling the next 8 days are going to be spent reading, pondering, and reintroducing myself to the sun.

Tomorrow is also a brilliant day, although not as relaxing, because we are going to go see the last launch of the Discovery. This is huge for me. When I was younger I wanted to be an astronaut more then anything, but Diabetes and my height quickly changed my mind on that. Both my mom and I are going to be taking plenty of pictures, and hopefully video too.

I need this vacation, I am so happy I am here.
