The Joy of Giving

Today I got an email from a soldier I have been writing who is fighting in the war overseas. I "adopted" two soldiers about a month ago fromadoptaussoldier.org and have been writing them once a week since. I often find that I don't know what to write and find myself critical of what I have to say. After all, what do you say to someone who is fighting a war and seeing horrible things and living in conditions that most people wouldn't even imagine. Even my journey to better health and self love seems trivial to write about.

Week after week I write my letters and send them out hoping that they will bring some joy to the soldiers receiving them, if even for just a moment. I don't support the war, I don't like war, I don't like violence, but I do support the soldiers that are there. Watching documentaries I have found that every species fights over territory, it comes naturally. It is a balance of life. Good with the bad.

Anyway I got an email from one of the soldiers I write and it just made my day. He said that he wrote me back and we are going to see how long it takes for the letters to reach one another.

Giving is one of the most incredible feelings in the world. Sending positive energy to others and letting your positive energy lift their spirits. I am still working on giving more to myself. After all, who am I to tell people to love themselves completely if I can't be an example of that. I love my heart and all it's faults.

Scars are beautiful. I have many of them.
