All day I have had a slight sluggish feeling and a minor headache. This would normally be discouraging, except for the fact that I realize I still feel better then I did prior to this juice feast. I realize I am hitting the detox portion of my cleanse, but I am ready for it! Let the toxins exit!
How do toxins exit? Well they need to be flushed out. I realized that it is easy to overlook drinking water while on a juice feast because you are drinking your food... and although raw food has a lot more water within it, it is still a requirement of the body.
I am committing myself to drinking an equal amount of water to the amount of juice that I am taking in.
My blood sugar has been a lot lower today, also. I woke up with blood sugar that was in a great range, but much lower then when I went to sleep (I don't adjust with short acting insulin before bed unless it's crazy high blood sugar, in which case I need to stay awake). This means that my long acting insulin, Lantus, which works over a 24 hour period, is to high of a dose.... Here is the thing, I already cut it down from 50 to 30 units. Since I had to drink a lot of apple juice today (freshly squeezed) I am not going to take insulin tonight, at least not long acting.
The plan is this, I am going to stop taking my long acting insulin for the next day or two and just adjust my blood sugar with my short acting insulin. I have heard of many people that have been off their insulin completely because of raw food.
Type 1 Diabetes does not go away, it is a constant reminder to be at the top of the health charts by eating the healthiest and most balanced diet, raw food. By this I mean, from what I have researched, about 40% fruit and 60% veggies. I will probably eat closer to a 75% veggie diet though.
Anyway I have a voice lesson tomorrow and don't know how much of this is making sense, since I have already put the thought into my body that I wish to sleep.
I made it through day 3! This is amazing! I feel great!
